E2E optimization: The spider and the web

Nowadays, a mobile network resembles a spider’s web! It is interconnected in various ways to multiple nodes and the path between one end and another is not clear or straightforward. And the web is continuously growing with each passing day.

This is the challenge of every mobile operator today, the ever-growing network complexity that increases due to new technologies, such as 5G, that are added on top of existing legacy networks (2G, 3G, and 4G), the multiple vendors and their inter-compatibility issues between ecosystems, and the new advancements in each domain of the mobile network (RAN, transmission, core, etc).

E2E optimization - big data

All these complexities generate enormous amounts of data that need to be extracted, processed, compiled, and analyzed to assess network performance. This assessment in turn does not represent the user performance fully since the aggregation of data dilutes the multiple user experiences into a single value.

To try and address all the nodes in the spider’s web, the operator divides the workforce into teams to focus on each node individually. But in turn, these teams are caught in the web and are unable to move and be flexible. They create silos and lose the ability to see the connections between the nodes and the impact one change can have on the entire network.

So, what is the solution? The solution is to have a spider!

E2E optimization - spider

A spider can move around the web freely, understands each node, and knows the impact of the change in one node on the web. It sees the web as a whole and not as individual nodes, which gives it the insight to find the issue on one end and repair the source of it on another end.

This is what Aspire’s solution provides to operators around the world. We consolidate our expertise into a single team, our “spider”, to look at the operator’s “web”.  The team combines multivendor, multi-technology, and multidomain expertise which offers the ability to have a holistic view of the network.

We can see issues that affect the whole web and dive into the nodes. We provide a top-down approach to understanding network issues, by drilling down into individual elements that impact the network and recommending actions to improve network performance. Similarly, we can identify a node issue and ascertain the impact on the whole web, by providing a bottom-up approach, in which we detect an issue in a particular domain and understand its impact on all the multiple domains of the network.

Like spiders, we can move freely through the web without getting caught in it due to our end-to-end expertise. And our software is what makes us navigate efficiently and quickly to be able to weave new connections that improve the web’s performance. Aspire has developed internal software solutions to be able to process the data from the multiple network elements and correlate everything to provide meaningful insights and actions to our customers to improve their network performance and user experience.

This spider solution gives the operator the ability to understand the end-user experience and the path this user has in its network web. They are no longer entangled in their own web and can have a holistic view of their network and its performance. The solution offers an end-to-end view that provides focus to the operator’s teams, it gives them a better understanding of the complexity of their network and where they need to allocate the effort of their teams to solve the network problems and improve their customers’ experience.

So, if you are an operator with a complex web, you can trust Aspire to find the best spider for the job!
